These expeditions sometimes involve travel at high altitude (rarely exceeding 4000m) and may visit remote areas of the world where facilities are often basic. Many of these trips sometimes involve some camping or basic lodging. These expeditions will often involve long journeys and rough roads. Day walks are often included and these days may involve up to 5 hours of physical activity. To enjoy these expeditions we suggest you are reasonably fit, healthy, have a moderately active lifestyle and have a positive attitude.
Suggested preparation: Two or three times a week, we recommend you walk on undulating terrain for an hour or more, for at least 3 months prior to departure.
Packing list materials
We suggest taking suitable mountain clothes, warm but light sweaters and casual jackets which are capable to keep your body protected from cold and wind. Two pairs of footwear, one light, one medium for trekking, one back pack (30-40 liter).
Climate
In the Northwest, near the province of Salta, temperatures are app. 18°C average from March to November with max. 25 to 28°C. It is colder by night as well as in the higher mountains (3000 to 5000 meters). During this period, the region is generally dry. As we will cross deserts and salt lakes at 3000 to 4000 meters, the days will be usually cool to hot and the nights can get very cold.
