Gábor Margés and Explore Beyond: Multi-cultural experience in action...
What makes participating in our expeditions so tempting?
Ronald Naar - A Life for the Mountains
I was born in Djedda, Saudi Arabia to Dutch and Indonesian parents. I carry a Hungarian first name and a French last name. I have lived in The Netherlands for much of my life but am currently residing in Buenos Aires, Argentina in between my travels across the rest of Latin America.
The primary reason behind my move to Argentina was to develop Explore Beyond, a company that provides one-of-a-kind travel adventures that have a lasting effect beyond their consumption... whether that lasting effect is in the form of a life-long memory or retention of learning; it is a memory that extends the experience over time.
For me, the satisfaction of being an entrepreneur comes from being able to bring an idea into reality and seeing how these new concepts change people's preconceived ideas about what travel is and what it can be.
I am very proud to say that I have accomplished this goal.Explore Beyond has developed expeditions where travelers explore their boundaries, test their mental and physical limitations, and experience the unfamiliar. These unique and challenging expeditions provide a complete experience that leaves one feeling reborn and fully enriched.
In cooperation with the best and most knowledgeable tour operators, expedition leaders, guides, combined with small-group exclusivity and innovative expeditions, Explore Beyond creates a truly unique South American adventure.Explore Beyond is a subsidiary of Global Encounters. We are a multi-cultural group of seasoned travel experts, united under the banner of bridging cultures and opening minds by making the entirety of Latin America Travel information accessible worldwide. Long established in Latin America and motivated by our knowledge and passion for travel, we supply the global travel market a single solution through all of Latin America.
The essential element of an expedition is the exploring. You walk, sail, or drive new or rarely travelled routes, competing with the elements - white water, tropical forest, polar winds, heat and cold, but especially with yourself - because adventure travel is also a discovery of the self, your weaknesses and your strengths.
But what can you still explore in the 21st century? With advances in technology making it possible to ‘visit’ virtually anywhere, you would think that we might have exhausted the interest in just about everything. For us, that is hardly the case. On the surface of our planet, under the canopy of our tropical forests or below the clouds of the Patagonian depressions, there are still many mysteries and secrets to discover, to experience.
Our South American expeditions will lead you to the most fascinating places of the South American continent. South America has a larger variety of extreme landscapes than any other continent: the driest desert in the Chilean Atacama, the largest tropical forest on the shores of the river Amazon and the highest altitude difference in the snow-capped Andes.
Explore Beyond is cooperating with the best and most knowledgeable expedition leaders including Ronald Naar.
Inspired by a brief glance at the mountains during a holiday with his parents to Northern Italy, Ronald Naar began climbing mountains in 1968. He reached his first real summit in the following year: the Kuhscheibe in the Austrian Stubaier Alps.
Gradually his experiences in the mountains inspired him to attempt more intensive climbing: at first, climbing that was more difficult, then attempting climbs with increased levels of risk, higher and more exotic.
